I've got caught with one of those 1.8" 2GB fake 4GB players,
I've now just started stabbing ebay, plus paypal over seller...

Hi there...
I'm also a new owner of a fake IPOD NANO 8 GB 3rd Generation...I would like to ask you all what do I have to do, since I'm a newbie in this matter, to know the real size of my mp4 player, how to install the most recent firmware, since the package does not give us any info about where or how to update...it's states to go to apple.com (lol) and finnally, is there any possibility to change the flash memory into a newer and bigger one? Is that an easy cost operation?

Please use the search function and enter the term "hacked". All answers have been posted for virtually all players and hacks. Use "memory " as a search term as well.
Here are a few links if you do not want to use the search function:

A little reading will answer all your questions.

Good luck

1st of all thanks for your reply.
However, after downloading mp3 utils 4.05...i could not proceed with what was explined on the topic (how-to-removing-memory-hack) because I got the following message:

THE ENCRIPTED DISK, THE TOOL DOES NOT SUPPORT IT TO FORMAT.

What should I do now?
Please help me with this, because de Mp3 is driving me crazy with constant format error messages!
Big thanks in advance

just took my old mpx player apart and found this,

samsung 843
k9g8g08u0b
pcb0

Wtf chip is that, currently the battery is disconectedso i cant check the actual player.

edit: its ok i found the chip data sheet and turns out it is an 8GB chip which is what i paid for.

now lets see if the 16GB chipod clone is the same (if and when it arrives)

BRAVO!!!
Thank you!
If enough of us do this, eventually it will get back to the manufacturers, and they will find a more inventive way to spoof the firmware into showing more capacity.

I think they have found a few new inventive ways my friend.. The MP3 disk tool is pretty much useless on the new players I've purchased over the past couple months..Even the firmware info is hacked into saying it's a different firmware..This makes it extra hard to remove the hack and fix the player..
