Hi, how does your player look like, what screen size, memory, etc.?

Also, what operating system does your PC have?
What happens exactly when you plug your player in the usb port? Can you quote the error message if possible?

Were you ever able to connect your player to your pc successfully before this?

WinXP should recognise it fine, no drivers needed.

Here's what you can try:

1. Try to get a hold of ANOTHER USB cable and try that instead.

2. Try plugging your player into another USB port on your computer and see if Windows recognises it.

3. Try plugging your player into another COMPUTER instead and see if that recognises it.

Trying those will help us determine where the fault is. Also, does your player play music, videos etc.. and operate FINE?

ok specifics,
Ipod Nano clone 1GB MP4 Player
Plug into USB "new hardware found" "your new hardware is ready to use"
Blue screen on mp4 with hourglass, then goes to pc connection picture on mp4.
PC then comes up with
"USB device not recognised" "one of the USB devices attached to this computer has malfunctioned.............yadda yadda"
Then MP4 goes to blue screen with hourglass, and this just cycles around forever, this is the second brand new unit doing exactly the same thing on 2 computers one with XP Pro and XP Home on the other.
PLS Help!

red, have you tried what binh suggested (trying a different usb cable, etc.)?
Does your player operate fine on its own? Is it able to play the songs, etc. that's already on it?

Is this the first time you're trying to connect to your pc or was it working fine before?
There could be some kind of internal malfunction...have you contacted your seller about this issue?

Red, is there any way you can test the usb cable. If you have a meter to check the current, that would be helpful. Atleast that way you can check if proper current is flowing through the cable...and then we'll know for sure that the cable's not the problem.

Also keep trying to contact the seller.
