Default [solved] Wont Pick up my music

Hi Guys
I just opened my mp4 and I jsut deleted the albums that they were in so I could jsut go into the artists and the songs could be there. But now when I go into music it says no files... but if I plug it in on my computer the songs are all in theere. I have my folders like this:

Mp4>Music>Artists>Songs.

It was like this

Mp4>Music>Artists(red hot chili peppers...)>Album>Song(Cant stop.mp3..)

And all I did was delete the albums but i copied the songs first into artists so no i didnt delete them.

Help please,
Ko

Hey ko, if you are having trouble listening to mp3 on your player, try moving all your songs to the root folder using your computer.
Most mpx players can only access songs from the root folder or one folder down...but I see you have four subfolders, which I believe is why your player is reporting "no files" when you try to play songs. It only checks the root folder and the next subfolders from the root (which in your case would be the "MP4" folder.

So try putting your song files directy in the root folder or in the "MP4" folder.

I believe this will solve your problem.
Let me know if it doesn't 8)

Ko, if you navigate to the songs in explorer are you able to play them.

tadad1, I wonder why my new player (even my old one) doesn't allow me to navigate past the first subfolder. So I can only access the root folder and the next subfolders in the root folder from the player.

Also in Ko's case, he's seeing "no files," which definitely would take him back to the menu screen. So navigating may not be an option.

...never mind tadad1. I thought you meant navigate in the player but you actually said in win explorer. Sorry I misread your post

arish_06, I have my player set up as follows:
in root I have 5 category folders Music, Video, Pictures, Text, and Record.

When I add music or video to my player I create a new folder in the respective category folder and paste it to there.

For example at the moment I have 5 albums on my player and 3 movies so I have 5 folders in the music folder and 3 folders in the movie folder. so i only ever go 2 folders deep (Root\Music\Enigma-Cross of Change or Root\Video\Ice Age 2)

I have no problem accessing folders with this method.

I have also just experimented and have been able to go Root\Music\1\2\3\4\5\6 and still play the mp3 in the 6th folder without any problem. From what I have read though some players need specific layouts.

I also found that having repeat set on anything other than normal can cause problems trying to play specific folders.

My thoughts with Ko's situation is when he moved his songs a folder down he may just have created shortcuts to the tracks rather than moving the tracks themselves so they may appear to be there but infact are not and the player cannot pick them up.

Wow tadad1, I like the way you analyed Ko's problem...I didn't think of shortcut links being the problem but there's a high possibility of that being the problem: if the original song doesn't exist any more, then the shortcut link would be bogus

I haven't experimented with my new player but for some reason my older player could only access song from one folder deep.

Ko, if what tadad says is the problem, then you'll need to download the songs again.
