Try this tool - Format Utility for USB Devices which can be downloaded from here.

Let me know if that lets you format your player in FAT format. You can try FAT32 though if you fell like it.

Well I tried to format my player with the format usb like you suggested it gave me an error message saying the volume was to big and then it crapped out so I will try formatting in FAT32 and see what happens.

ok well formatting it in FAT32 worked it's only a 1gig drive though hopefully now it will work without problems I'll log back in and let you know later.

wompah1, Just out of curiosity will it format in FAT know that you have done so in FAT32.

So I was able to format in FAT and I will see how it works for a couple of days. That being said I encountered no problems in FAT32 so I will probably reformat again to that as it is a more efficient format. I'll post again to let you know what the results are in a couple of days.

Interesting it must be the hack that prevented you from originally formating in fat. But you are right, I formatted my player in fat32 to experiment and it seems to be working fine, maybe the fat limitation was more for earlier players.
