[solved] I got mp4 player today as a belated birthday gift...while loading files from my computer it froze forcing me to reboot. Now my problem is that while it says all files were copied unfortunately the last half was garbled, now when I try to delete these files it says that files are damaged or corrupted and it will not delete them. Like I said half the files work and if I try and copy the other half I get the same error as if i try deleting them installed the tools from my disk to format the drive but I get another message from within the application saying the drive does not support this function(quick and full)---PLEASE SOMEONE HELP

wompah1, did you select the correct drive in the mp3 format tool and have you tried the low formatting option.

Try formatting directly with your pc formatting tool. If you have windows xp, right-click on your mpx's driver-icon in "My Computer" and select format.

If that doesn't help, try defragmenting your mpx's flash disk.
Right-click on the icon again and select properties. On the "tools" tab, select degragment now.

Degragmenting may help clear the corrupted bits on your player.

wompah1, as arish_06 has said right click on the player icon in explorer and select properties then the tools tab. Then run an error check on the drive selecting all options. This will fix any bad sectors your disk may have and may recover any corrupt files.

Once you have done this I suggest you then format your player. I also get a no support error message when trying to use Mp3 Disk Tool so just format with Windows by right clicking on the player icon and choosing format. Be sure to select FAT file system though as the player will not run on FAT32 or NTFS.

I have mine formatted on FAT32 and it is running fine. It's one of the fake 4GB ones though so the firmware is a bit funky.

If you have 2GB or less i would recommend just sticking with FAT

If you right click on 'My Computer' -> Manage -> Disk Management, you can see what the caper is with all your drives.

Well I ran the error check and it allowed me to delete the corrupted files, but it still seems my harddrive shows the space as used? Tried defragmenting, but I get this error message. "the scan has been cancelled because an error occured in file: I:\FOUND.000\FILE0019.CHK" also I cannot format to FAT when I try right-clicking it seems to only want me to do it in FAT32, should I try a low level format with the tool on my utilities CD?

When you go to the disk management like i described in the post above, right hand click on the drive and select Format.

There will be a "File System" field. What options are displayed in there?

FAT32 is the only choice I seem to have...

wompah1, what size storage is your player? You could certainly try a low level format with the disk tool but I think you may get a compatiblity error message, if so format it in fat32 it may then remove the errors and you may then be able to reformat in fat.

I will try it and see if I get an error message, if I do I'll reformat in FAT32 see how that works. My harddrive is supposed to be 8gigs, but judging from what I've read in the forum they don't exist.

wompah1, my assumption was that you may have a dodgy memory chip as the problems you are having are good indications of this. There was a great post here a few days ago that covered one users experiences about his 8gig player really only being a 2gig player but I can not find it to link for you.

He spoke of the fact that FAT32 is utilised to achieve this . To find the true size of your player you need to open the player and note the brand and serial number of your memory chip (usually the largest chip on the board). With this info you can do a Google search which will find you information on your chips real specifications.
