I still have no joy in getting the screen to go off while playing music

Would it be possible to fix this problem by changing the firmware?

dreamadream, I would not try changing firmware as an option or you could end up with the reverse and have a screen that does not turn on.

However what you could try is extracting your firmware with s1fwx then running the repair.bat and then reupload it to your player.

To recap check these settings.
1.Set the clock
2.Settings\LCD set\Darkle = 10
3.Settings\LCD set\Black =10
4.Settings\Power off\Off Time =0
5.Settings\Power off\Sleep time = 0

tadad1 - thanks for your help , its working now!

I done the settings as above - the diff was i think when in darkle and black i pressed the play button with the settings at zero.

now the screen goes off while the player is on when playing or not - which is perfect. even when i charge the batt, i can go into music (without pressing play music) and the screen goes off during charge.

i#m a happy dude
cheers man!

dreamadream, Good to hear you got it sorted. The little things can be so frustrating.

dreamadream

Just to recap, can you tell us what you changed and by doing so, what does your player do now? This is to clarify so I can put it together as a "Knowledge Base".

tadad1, thanks for your input in this as well as always.

Default Re: Setting time / Sleep function

just to recap , my player is using firmware 3.2.16.

I set brightness to 6 (although i dont think this is a factor)

I set LCD/Darkle to 10 (Ensure you press 'play' to confirm)
I set LCD/Dark to 10 (Ensure you press 'play' to confirm)

I set Sleep and OFf settings to zero (Ensure you press 'play' to confirm)

I think the key is to press play to confirm each setting. Once set up the screen will go off after a few seconds even though the player stays on (exception is of coarse when playing a video file). Settings will stay once you use play button to turn off/on player.

Hope this can help someone else out there!!
