Stupid MP4 Owner
Hi there all,
I have read your site for nearly an hour now and I seem to be in the company of people who know a lot more about MP3 players than me!! So here's my beg for help: Bought MP4 player from ebay, new, fantastic seller, been very helpful but, the radio says Hard Error when selcting it from main menu. The seller advised me to upgrade the Firmware and even directed me to your site, for which i am very grateful. My problem is that i haven't the faintest what I'm doing. This is what I've done so far and what has happened as a result. 1) opened the f:/ browser window thingy (the mp3 player) which is where to I copy all the songs I want to listen to. 2) opened the file on my computer where i keep all my songs as mp3s before copying them to the player. 3) i copied the files that were on the player when i first opened it (Test song / File with the squares 150kB / File called AMV 3.23MB) 4) downloaded the dump file called karaoke 5.xxMB from a link on this site 5) deleted the original 3 files from the player and copied the dump file to the player. What happened is exactly this: Nothing. It still works fine in every respect except the radio which still says Hard Error, and the test song has of course gone. Please will someone reply telling me in instructs roughly as simple as i wrote above how to get the radio working. P.S, I'm not really all that bothered about the radio, so if I'm risking irreparable damage to the rest of the mp4 player please just tell me not to bother. Thanks a million, i eagerly await a reply. |
RussC, First you need to download and install a few applications, here are the links:
http://www.mympxplayer.com/dload.php...le&file_id=136 http://www.mympxplayer.com/dload.php...file&file_id=2 Once installed you need to backup your firmware from your player to your PC using s1fwx. There is a tutorial on how to do that here: http://www.mympxplayer.com/viewtopic.php?t=66 Once extracted put it somewhere safe as you may need it if you have problems. To update the firmware on your player you need to use MP3 Update Tool which is part of the MP3 Player Utilities 3.68 that you downloaded. here is a tutorial on how to do this. http://www.mympxplayer.com/viewtopic.php?t=46 You also need to be aware that upgrading your firmware is risky and an incompatible firmware upgrade could leave your player unusable. I do not mean to scare you and if your supplier is directing you to a particular firmware then you should be OK. Hope this helps Also let us know how it works out. |

Some questions for you: 1. Has the radio function ever worked before on your player? 2. How long have you had your player? It sounds to me that you might actually be having problems with the hardware of the RADIO itself. It might be that the 'radio' chip is faulty or it doesn't exist on your player at all (even though the menu is there). If it's under warranty, I would suggest you return it to the seller if you want and try to get a new one. Radio would work by itself without having to do anything like updating the firmware. |
