continue..of shorting pins
ya i did exactly what was said in this topic but it just doesnt see it as adfu server maybe i have to disconnect the battery?
|
Guest, I don't think disconnecting the battery is really necessary but you can try it if you want (some players may need the battery to be disconnected first as described in the procedures of the recovery guide at s1mp3.org)
I shorted the pins without disconnecting the battery and windows detected it just fine. Did you just try once? Sometimes it takes a couple of runs before windows can detect it as adfu. What kind of player do you have by the way? Do you have a backup firmware? |
...in order for the short ciruit to work, current must flow through the pins when you cross touch them. So if you disconnect the battery, then you need to keep the pins cross touched while you connect to the usb.
I suppose removing the battery is recommended by s1mp3.org to make the procedure less risky (as touching the wrong pins by mistake can really send the player to heaven)...but for me, leaving the battery on made the task easier. Just have to make sure to steadily touch the correct pins. |
Re: continue..of shorting pins
Hi its me the guest, look i tried what you said with the pins and all that but nothing happens my pc just writes: "usb device" and not adfu server i tried very hard and a lot of time was wasted on that but it just writes again and again usb device i have the backup but i cant do anything when my pc doesnt see my mp4 does it mean that my mp4 is dead forever?

SMART, what happens if you open the mp3 upgrade tool? Quote the message if possible
By the way, can you see the driver icon in win explorer (i.e. can you put songs, files, etc. on the player) Your player shouldn't be completely dead if windows recognizes it as usb device. Do make sure you're short ciruiting the correct chip. Usually it's the biggest chip. Also, what happens when you try to turn on your player? Have you tried contacting your seller by the way? |
SMART, are you using windows xp? Let me know if you're using an older version of windows. Older versions may require the driver to be reinstalled manually (firmware upgrades may change the identity of the player so windows would think it's a new device). So your computer may require addtional driver files to reinstall depending on the firmware you last upgraded your player with.
But if you're using xp, then reinstalling the driver wouldn't be a problem, it will be taken care of automatically. If possible, try using a different computer. But let me know if you have xp or older verison. |
Re: continue..of shorting pins
It just doesnt recognize my mp4 as a removable disk i cant do with it any thing if i enter the upgrade program it just says something like: "please connect your device first" i know exactly which chip is it and i tried to short the pins a lot of time and nothing happaned, I just heard this sound you know when usb is connected several times and: "usb device"
i have windows XP and when i give him to find the driver automaticly it doesnt find anything. |
SMART, try attaching the player to a different usb port and then short the chip.
