Problems Installing AMV 3.68 onto computer
 

Hi Guys

I succesfully installed AMV Convert tools using the setup.exe on my home and work machine with no hassles.
However I tried to install on my brother machine, both from the CD and from this site ) codecs / WMP all in ok - but everytime we try to run setup.exe on his machine, it locks his system up totally and does zero.

He has a dell computer with Windows XP ( Very similar set-up to me ) and we dont understand why we are having problems installing this software on his machine ??

He uses McAfee, while I use Norton - cant see any differences apart from that - has anyone experienced similar problems, and can anyone suggest a way forward - we are stumped !!

Simonski, I have not heard of this before. the package is actually quite a simple install no registry settings or anything so you could just copy the install folder from your machine to his machine and it will all work ok.

Thanks for the reply. Its odd as I had zero problems getting it set up on my home and work machine, and we are having immense problems getting it on other machine - everytime we click on setup.exe, it just freezes the screen - you have to power off the machine and restart, as everything kinda locks - we have winrar installed to extract any required files, so I cant see we are missing anything - this really is strange. Thought maybe it was something in his mcafee stopping it from being installed, but we turned that off, inclsuing other protection software, but still no change.

I will forward him your reply about copying the files over and see if he has any success - will let you know soon.

You can also have a look at this Knowledge Base - How to: Solve problems installing AMV/MTV Converting Tool from here.

I haven't been able to find a pattern as to why it hangs on installation for some computers and while it doesn't for others........ but the Knowledge Base outlines some possiblities to try. Let me know if that helps.

Hi simonski, try running this file.... MSIen.msi (That is the English version) Somehow I could not get setup.exe to run on my system. It only decides which language you are using anyway.

Running MSIen will install okay!

Thanks everyone,

We set up a new user account in XP - and it then allowed the software to be installed. Just now need to test an amv movie clip or similar to know if fully workable - will let you know and close off this topic asap.
