Hmm I dont think so... I dont really know anymore, but why should it? Well, just save them before you extract your firmware and everything will be fine.

I can't guarantee, but its almost certain that your mp3 and whatelse won't be deleted after you "remove" your fimware. (In fact, you don't remove, you just COPY it to your PC)
I've changed my firmware and no file was deleted! ;D

...hehe, thanks for the answers guys, so sorry but i got excited to do that before reading your answers.. anyway, im glad that the procedure was successful except on one thing... after i modified my original firmware, ( i just modified the loading picts and shutdown picts ) the VOIP function of my player was no longer available, and everytime i boot my player, it always warn me about "VOIP function is invalid, Need to Update firmware" . Anyway, im not using that function so its ok for me... Im just wondering because I only modified the startup and shutting down of my player and yet one of the function is no longer usable..

(by the way, extracting ur firmware cant affect your files saved in ur player). this forum is really great, ive learned a lot, regards to all!!!

ryutorkwata, Did you use s1res of FirmwareModify to replace your boot screen as FirmwareModify has a bug that can occasionally remove features especially if you try to adjust the FM Radio settings.

Have you run "repair.bat" file that came with the firmware extractor tool? If you didn't, this might have been the problem that caused your VOIP to don't work anymore.... =T
By the way, what kind of player is yours? I have never seen a player with VOIP fuction.. =]
If you please, get some images here! ;D
Regards!

So you are able to extract the firmware of your player ok?

Wow, I like the look of your player. It's metal on the back right? Looks very nice.

If you can extract the firmware of your player using the s1fwx tool, then it is an ACTIONS board (aka s1mp3) and that will give you the option to 'reskin' or change the look of your player too if you wanted to.

Upload the picture of your player to the site too if you wanted to to show off your player
