Firmware update or not

Hi i got a Morestar Mp-368 mp3 player and the MP3 Player Utilities on the mini CD are 3.57. I've downloaded the AMV Convert 368 file from the Downloads section and if I use the new one should i update the Firmware on my player ?

cherva, You should not update your firmware unless you are having problems with your player or wish to theme it. I would suggest that you use s1fwx to backup your firmware to your PC as you may need it if you have problems with your player in the future.

There is a guide on how to do this in the Knowledge Base section. And the program s1fwx can be downloaded from the Download>Tools section.

If you get a chance to upload your firmware to the Members Upload section as I have not seen firmware for your player there. :)

I agree with tadad. DON'T update your firmware just for the sake of it.

If you update the software to a newer version, it will work FINE as the software is only for your computer. The .AMV file produced will work on your player regardless so NO FIRMWARE update is necessary.

I wouldn't recommend updating the firmware with another firmware. All you need to do is read the "Dead Players" section of this forum to see why.

Hi there!

I have also a morestar 368 mp3 player with f/w version: 3.5.35 (2005/12/16) and I would like to ask if there is a possibility to change the current theme with a newer one... Is it possible? Is there any howto writen for this procedure? I have found the tool (s1res_v16) but is there any other way to update the images and the fonts of my current f/w ???

Thank you very much I hope someone can help me.

treloskostas, Have a look in the Knowledge Base section HERE and you will find a guide on how to extract your firmware using s1fwx and another on how to modify your firmware using s1res.
