Default Charger adaptor

Hello,

I have a nano like MP4 player. When I bought it I also recieved, appart from the USB cable, an AC adaptor to charge it quicker. My question is that when I use the USB cable plugged into the PC, I have no problems to charge it. But if I try to use the USB adaptor and plug in to the AC, it seems that don't charge it. At first, the screen shows "connecting" afterwards the battery icon flying around the screen (like the USB normal process), but after a while the screen gets black and the player does not respond. It seems it does not charge it.

do I have to do something special? can these players be charged directly to the AC?

thank you very much for your answer
Pepe

You shouldn't need to do anything special.

I know there are afew people who have had 'faulty' wall chargers before in the past, so it MIGHT be faulty.

Just to be sure though, I suggest run your player down to low or no batteries at all. Then leave it charging on the wall all night. Next morning, check on it and see if it's charged or not.

The screen going black might actually be a setting in your player to go into 'suspend' or 'sleep' mode when in the charger and it might be different while connected to your PC.

Try that and tell me what happens.

Default Re: Charger adaptor

I, too have a question about the USB charger/adapter. My player came with a wall charger, but won't be able to use it in Canada.

Reading the posts, my understanding is that I could charge my player up via the computer with the USB cable supplied. Approx. how long does it take -- I'm charging it for the first time and I doubt I will see a "charge complete" msg. Also, is there anyway to find out what kind of battery I actually have?

What to you think, would I need to track down a N.American charger?

Thanks everyone. This site is fantastic!

Shirley, USB charge takes about 4-5 hours but if it is your first charge if you can give it 8 -10 hours all the better.
If you download a program called s1fwx HERE

Connect your player to the USB port and run the extract.bat file in the s1fwx folder. Then run the repair.bat you will now have a backup of your players firmware called dump.bin. Save this as it will be essential should you have any problems with your player in the future. To find out your battery type there is a file called list.bat if you execute it it will open a command window listing the properties of your dump.bin file along with a list of files it contains.

It will look like this
