[solved] 2 gb mp4 (sony-fake) problems
i am not sure if i am supposed to put all the problems in a post or have to put separately.
i just bought 2 gb sony mp4 and facing some problem. I am using win 98 system. 1. trying to take a back up of firmware by s1fwx - as detailed elsewhere - but my on running extract.bat - my system says no devisce found!!! any problem with win98? 2. though it is 2 gb and i can copy files upto (naly) 2 gb - MP3 player utility disktool (ver. 3.68) - says in partion detail as "Total Disk capacity = 475MB" is something wrong?? 3. also though i copied more than 100 songs - it was getting struct at some place (aroung 72-85 nos.) and was getting switched off. Now i have realised that the song in question was always near the disk size mentioned above (475MB), there is no problems for all songs stored below 475 MB- (ref. point 2 above) does that mean real capacity to store songs is only 475 MB? Does any one else have this problem? or any solution to bypass this restriction? 4. i downloaded MP3 palyer utility 3.68 from this site , and on installation - my AVG virus scanning software says "Trojan horse generic.wud virus" found in file deldrv.exe. Can some one check if the installtion is viRus free, and if yes - does it mean my mp4 player has come with virus? 5. my mp4 player has a demo video for full screen. OI sthere a way to find whether it is 128x128 pixed or 96x94 or something? This will help me in converting my videos to correct resolution. 6. Also in mp3 player utility - amv convert tool - is there any setiing to increase brightnee? as my converted video are coming too dark. |
To answer question numbers 2 & 3 - I would say that most probably you have got a hacked player. It actually only has a capacity of 512MB not 2GB. The signs of this are evident in your findings. I guess you should contact the seller and ask for a refund and return the item all together.

Answer to question number 4. I have downloaded the utility and ran 2 scans on it (Panda Antivirus and AVG) and no signs of viruses.
Also to answer number 6. Someone correct me if I am wrong, but AMV Converter tools 3.68 does not have the capability to brighten the videos. My videos always come out nice and clear so you might have a defect in your player. |

thanks for the help |
javad,
s1fwx does not work on Win98 you need Win2000 upwards. As "bsaylor" has mentioned your memory chip may only be 512MB. If you have copied almost 2GB of files to your player try copying some of the last files back to your PC, you will most likely find they are corrupt and unplayable. There is no fix for this you need to take this up with your supplier. Using Bitdefender and Avast I have had no anti virus warnings from 3.68 or any other version of MP3 Player Utilities. If your players LCD is 1.5 then full screen will be 128x128, if it is 1.8 LCD full screen will be 160x120. To find the settings of your test video, run the video on your PC using AMV Player and while it is running right click on the picture and select properties and it will display the size and frame rate. The best way to adjust your videos is to convert all your files to AVI before converting them to AMV. This way you can crop, resize, adjust volume if needed, adjust brightness and contrast what ever you prefer to get the desired AMV quality. Some free conversion programs are PocketDivxEncoder or VirtualDub. You will find information on some different methods that people have used to obtain good results in the Video Related Forum. "Vegas215.com" posted his findings HERE Hope this Helps :) |
great all queries replied, my only problem is in this short time my supplier has vanished - no longer registered with e-bay also.
also - as i am supposed to make this post "SOLVED" do not know how to change topic of the post. can someone help me? |
javad, If you are logged on there should be an edit button in the top right of your original post, if you press that you can change the title. Sorry to hear your trader did a bunk, I have had the same experience in the past. :(

Re: [solved] 2 gb mp4 (sony-fake) problems
Just to further tadad's comment.
Depending on the way your player has been designed, I have a 1.5" LCD screen player and videos at 128x96 work on FULL screen fine. If I change it to 128x128, it will cut off the bottom and top of it. |
