Just got my mp3 nano clone- battery issue?

Ok, I just got the player. it seems great! Its brand new, and looks nice. I played w/ it a little, left it plugged in the PC all last night but the player seems to of not charged.

Today I put it on the unit that plugs into the wall. I have had it on at least 30-45 minutes, and its not showing any power on the bar if I unplug it.

I am going to leave and let it charge for a few hours on the house style plugin.

Should this be an issue? Do they take that long to charge vs a real iPod? I hope I didnt get a bad unit, as it would cost me more to ship it back vs buying another one.

The player itself works fine when its plugged in I just hope the batterys not a bad one? :-/

Thanks!

When you left your player charging on the computer, did you turn your computer on? You will need to turn on your computer to have it charged.

I always left my player charging while using my computer, but if overnight, I have the computer on (ie: while downloading something as well).

Leave it for a few hours on the wall charger and see how it goes. There's been a number of instances where the charger people got with their players has been faulty, so do be wary of that as well.

Good luck and let us know.

yea, pc was on. Even after at least 4 hours on the charger, the unit displays its charging, and it after I unplug it, sometimes I can play w/ it a little, sometimes it just says goodbye...it wont hold a charge.

I'm upset w/ this thing. Sucks because its from a seller in hong kong, so even if he will replace it...it will probably cost me $25 to send it back...so I will probably just not even get another one...grrrr

Don't know what to do? I didnt change the firmware, so its not that.

The battery says:

SDL042040SP
3.7v 230mAh

the soldering looks like the wires are a bit thin...makes me wonder if they are getting a connection? I moved them around a little, and after some playing, i got the unit to pass the 1/2 way point of a charge! Before it only listed the bottom slanted battery.

I also noticed sometimes the green light on the home charger goes out. I seemed to have the best luck charging it with the unit completely off and plugged in the wall. I know its still getting power, same as a cell...

What do u think are the chances i got a rare unit that was soldered bad, and has a bad wire from the batter to the board?

It's not the 'sleep' or 'turn off' settings on your player is it that's turning off your player? If you left it playing say, a 5 mins .AMV video or a long song, does it keep playing or turn off mid way through?

How long does your player stay on before it says "Good bye"? I wonder if it's the settings in your player instead of the battery? Just a possiblity....

Re: Just got my mp3 nano clone- battery issue?

Ok, yesterday it got past 1/2 way charging on the wall...So I decided to plug it into the USB...this morning the unit showed just less than 1/2 battery.

The unit will stay on and play a song if its charged 1/2 way for awhile...its just not getting or holding a charge for some reason.

When I plug it into the USB, the unit gets very hot but doesnt charge at all.

Still the only way I am able to get ANY charge is to turn the unit off on the slider on top, then it charges for a little, then the green light goes off after about 30 minutes.

UPDATE: The seller told me to send it back for a repair/replacement. He is going to double check it before sending it back if they replace the battery. It cost me $12.00 to send it back :-/ But be nice to get one that holds a charge lol. I would of gotten my own battery but couldnt find any sellers for just ipod clone batteries...

oh well...just have to hope i get it fix/replaced w/ a good one! hehe.

Hi,
today I also bought one of those MP4 players (i-pod look alike) works fine, however for some reason my laptop does not recognise it.
I`m a doing something wrong? or could the usb cable cause a problem?

hope someone can me a tip...
thanks

Ray, What version of Windows are you running Win 98 has issues with USB devices. If you have access to another PC try to connect to it if the same thing happens it is most likely the cable.

I'm also curious to replace chiPods battery with iPod nano's since I think they have almost same voltage and iPod nano's has more mAh .... anyone has experience on this?
