mdpais,
I have personally never come across this before so do not know whether you should format the drive or not. It could be part of the operating system or an unformated partition. There is no telling how your player would respond if you formatted or deleted the partition, as it is only 1MB and not even enough room for an MP3 file I would suggest you just ignore it.

So that would mean I have a hacked chip and not a 512mb one, right?

mdpais, It may not be hacked. What size is the other partition? Some times when a drive is formatted it will leave a small amount of unallocated space. For instance if you partition and format a new hard drive with Windows it will leave about 8MB of space unused, some partitioning tools can recover this space. But unless you go looking you may not ever notice it. The same could be with your chip.
If you are running windows xp you can look at the partitioning by going to Control Panel\Administrive Tools\Computer Management\Disk Management and with your player connected to your PC it will display the partitions on your player. You could even delete both partitions and create one new one but I do not know how your player will react to that. It may need the space to run.
If your space available is roughly 512MB usually slightly less around 480-490MB and your player is working with no problems best to leave it I think.

As an addon you could also try going into settings on your player and check if online mode is set to normal.
