gta3dude dude, So what is happening, can you no longer access the player? Is it still recognised in Explorer? What happens when you try to put files on it?

ok, I pluged it in and I don't see any files when I click on it. I tryed to add music by copying and psting it into the removeable desk drive. But once I turn it back on it says no files! How do I fix this. Cna I do a formatt or is there anotherway to add music to it?

gta3dude, Try to format the player.

gta3dude 7th Jul 2006 2:58 pm

Hoe do I formatt it?

tadad1 7th Jul 2006 3:01 pm

gta3dude, Connect your player, open explorer, right click on your player and select Format. Use FAT file system if it will let you otherwise FAT32.

Then how do I put the firmware back on it and add music to it?

gta3dude 7th Jul 2006 3:06 pm

like will the folder and stuff come back after I formatt it?

tadad1 7th Jul 2006 4:25 pm

gta3dude, When you format it will wipe the drive and you will have to create new folders. What format are your music files, MP3? If you right click on the player and select properties how much space is used?

ok i put a custome firmware on it. So since I formatted it do I need to put that custom firmware back on it? Also can I just put a folder named music in there and send music files to it. Will they play on my mp3 player from just inserting mp3 files into that folder?

tadad1 7th Jul 2006 11:32 pm

gta3dude, A format should not effect the firmware. Regarding folders some players require specific layouts but I think most of the newer ones have no restrictions.
I have a folder called Music and within that I create separate folders for Albums, Artists etc. if you break them down into several folders you can at least play a specific folder rather than have to wade through all your songs.
Most players also have a 99 file folder limit so if you have 120 Mp3's you will have to store them in 2 folders.

Hope this helps

gta3dude 7th Jul 2006 11:43 pm

What would be a specific layout?

tadad1 8th Jul 2006 12:34 am

gta3dude, With some of the older players you had to store your files in specifically named folders because that is where they looked for files. For example when selecting music files your player may search for a folder called "MP3" so if you store your mp3's in a folder called "MUSIC" it will not find them. Other players just want you to dump all files into the ROOT folder. Most of the new players though look for file types so you can store your mp3's any way you like.
