Default [solved] HELP MP3 PLAYER UTILITIES REMOVE

I installed version 3.68 of the utilities. Just recently its gone strange and for some reason wont run properly.

When I try and remove it I get an error message as follows;

There is a problem with the installer package, a program required for this install to complete could not be run.

I try and repair and it seems to work but still wont let me remove it afterwards.

I try and install version 4 of the utilities downloaded from here and it wont install stating an older version is installed and this needs to be removed first.

Please anyone that can help id much appreciate it as this is really annoying me and I just want to get version 4 of the utilities on the comp and working.

How can I get rid completely of this 3.68 version if the general uninstall wont work.

jamo9000

Can you try creating anothe user account with local admin rights and try REINSTALLING the MP3 Utilities under that new user?

Hopefully it will let you do a complete install then you might be able to uninstall it after that.

Try that and let me know.

jamo9000, On your keyboard press Win+R to open the run dialogue. Type in regedit and press OK.

In Regedit go to the following address
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\MICROSOFT\INSTALLER\PRO DUCTS\
You will see a list of folders with titles like this "271A48771F16E54438860661700EDD22" , starting with the first one click on each one, on the right of regedit you will see info on each entry, find the one for MP3 Utilities 3.68 then right click on the folder and select delete. Close regedit.
Open Explorer and manually delete the MP3 Player Utilities 3.68 folder in C:\Program Files or where ever you have it installed. Now you should be able to re-install or install 4.0

Thanks for the info.

I deleted what you said and still no difference - still unable to install version 4 it still says older version exists on the system

Please any other solution? Must be more reg entries

jamo9000, It may be the copy you installed with a different user account. there must be a second entry in the registry. Open regedit and press F3 and do a search for MP3 Player Utilities and see if you can find another install folder like the one you deleted.

Woohooo, Thanks a lot i did think about that but wasn't sure how risky it be me deleting something I shouldn't.

I did a search for 3.68 and deleted everything reference mp3 and that and there were lots more all over the place.

Now the version 4 installer works

Thanks again for your help, much appreciated.

Just stumbled over this site the the other day and its great. Ill be sure to upload a pic of my mini nano clone soon and a few words im so so very impressed with it and its great changing the themes and pics etc.

Thanks again

jamo9000, Good stuff, version for is a bit buggy though so you may have to go back to 3.68 if your AMV conversions start to give you problems.

Cheers
