Default hard drive size reduced....

ok wtf..............

I bought one of these 2 gb ipod clones and it's been giving me hell..everytime I tranfer music in there the names get all changed and shit byself and mess the whole thing up and I have to reformat it. so I upgraded the firmware(3.5.35) and now the new firmware looked good everything. so I put something music in there and STILL same problem..files renaming byself then I get "format error !" when I try to play most of the stuff. so I try to format the drive again using mp3 player utility 3.68 and now my hard drive size is 107 mb.

what can I do here to fix this ??

thanks in advance...

Unfortunately, it sounds like you have a 'hacked' player in the sense that someone has hacked it to display 2 GIGS of storage whereas physically it only has a 128MB memory chip inside.

This also might explain all the problems you're getting with 'format errors'. This is generally because the player can't hold more than what it's physically capable of (107 MB).

A format generally wipes out any hacks to reveal it's true size. If you wanted to, you can open up your player and note down the chip number. Then we can check on the internet to see how big that memory chip is.
