Blurry/jerky video playback
I have a new MP4 player with 1.5" screen. Since getting the player I have ripped some DVD movies and converted them with AMV 3.68. I have used the recommended settings etc however when I play them back on the MP4 player the movies seem to be blurry or jerky during any sequence where there's a lot of motion. I have not seen any other MP4 players with movies running so I don't know if this is acceptable quality or not.
I have downloaded and played the Ice Age & Bud samples from here but they played with the same result. Does anyone have any advice or comments? |
Rushck, Standard video playback is around 25 -30 frames per second, version 3.68 set to convert at a high frame rate does so at 12fps, some players will only handle a medium setting of 10fps at full screen.
The much smaller frame rate does tend to cause ghosting and jerky video in fast motion scenes. You can improve AMV quality a little by pre processing your video with VirtualDub or PocketDivxEncoder prior to amv conversion. Version 3.57 with a high setting will convert at 16fps giving a more fluid video but some player can not handle this speed and the dreaded "Format Error" video crash happens. I have 2 Nano clone that can only cope with 10fps and 2 newer players that seem to have no problems with 16fps. There are a couple of posts on the 2 programs I mentioned HERE and HERE |
