How to use files with .file extension

i want to download and use a file such as this matrix start screen but cannot due to problems with opening how am i supposed to open it? is there a program that i have to use? here is a link to the file.

says that it is a .rar file but it isn't?

Malieth, Sounds like you have file extensions hidden. Open Explorer, then go to Tools>Folder Options. Select the View Tab and scrool down to "Hide Extensions for Known File Types" and deselect the option.

If that does not help try renaming the file to a .rar file.

What's the error message you are getting?

Try the following:

1. Check to make sure you have a program that can open a .rar file. Use 7-zip as it's FREEWARE. It can be downloaded from our site in the [Downloads] --> [Tools] section.

2. From Internet Explorer, click on [Tools] then [Internet Options] and under "Temporary Internet Files", click on the [Delete Files] button. I know I had an error, but once I cleared my temporary internet files, it worked ok after that.

Try those and let me know what the result is.
