Default Hard drive issue, may be something new?

I bought a mp4 player, with 8GB, and no company name/lable printed on it. I can transfer songs, but after I transfer a paticular ammount, the folders are renamed with wierd labeling that isn't text, or symbols. I've formatted it with windows and it says 7.99GB. I can only load about 1 GB on it.

If I try to play one of the artist folders, it pauses then the timer comes up and resets to the main "music" screen. so there aren't any of those format errors.

If I try to delete the files it just says it can't read from the hard drive.

Do you guys know what this is? It says it has 7.99GB on it so I don't think its the "lost memory problem" but I could be wrong.

mp4fun, To the best of my knowledge 8GB ChiPods do not exist, I am even yet to see proof that 4GB players exist. If it were 8GB you would have had to pay big bucks for it.
If every thing is becoming corrupt over 1GB I would suggest that is the true size of your chip.
You could try formating with MP3 Disk tool, HP Format tool or SwissKnife all of which can be found in the download section.
The other way is to open the player and note the memory chip ( generally the largest chip on the board) serial number and brand and doing a Google search with the info should find you the chips true specs.

Either way I suggest you contact your seller ASAP and ask for a refund.
