Music listing.

Hi all, hope i am not repeating a question already asked, but i did look first.
i want to be able to listen to "random" playback on my Chipod. However the only way i have founb to do this is by puting all the songs in one folder and puting that in the Music file of my chipod. Then it will shuffle and play randomly. However, if i fancy listening to one specific song i am screwed, as i have to click through them all till i find it, as i cannot list what is in the folder.

Any ideas?

Papa Bear, Unfortunatly this is one of the biggest shortcommings of the players. Players that allow you to browse for single files are just starting to emerge but are not yet mainstream but will become more common over the next few months.
Here are a couple of such players.

Re: Music listing.

Hey Tadad 1 thanks for the reply. I noticed on the thread that they talked about changing the firmware to include the file listings. Is that possible on my player:-

My player is an Ipod clone 2gb 1.8" screen

Act-V3.5.57

If so, looking forward to when the guy posts the download.

Papa Bear, I have an ipod clone 1GB 1.5 that does not have file browsing and I loaded the file browsing firmware into it and it did not take and left me with a black screen but I was able to recover with my backup. I am sure many have tried but no one has posted that they have been able to do it. There is a 1.5 in the firmware section but no 1.8 versions yet.
I also have a 1.8 with file browsing, it was in one of the links I sent you but the firmware is very different Version 9.0.43 and the player runs with a CTW500 chip while most run on the ATJ2085. Although I can extract it it will not repair so can not be loaded.

Re: Music listing.

You obviously know what you are talking about, unfortunately my knowledge of these things is very limited.
I have messed around a little with the firmware, changing pictures etc. But would be very worried in case i blew up the thing.

I had another look at the links you sent, but i couldnt find any link to the new firmware. Am i being blind?

Papa Bear, Sorry I was meaning one of the links is to a review I did on the player I have with file browsing.
Sorry there is no way of helping you more but as the function becomes more available there may be more upgrade options.
Cheers
