[solved] Something weird happened to videos on MP4
Hi i just got my MP4 so i am quite new with it and have several questions.
First of all, i connected my 2gb 1.8 inch MP4 player onto my computer and was ready to copy a .wmv video onto it. However, in the middle of copying an error occurred saying that the program needs to closed. So i closed it and everything. After disconnecting the player, when i turn on my player again.. all my videos that i previously copied was gone! The weird thing is that... even with all my videos gone... the memory size didn't change. The memory was still as if i had those videos on my player still.. is there a way i can get the videos back? or get the memory back? it appears that the player cut down the memory size now. another thing is does anyone know where i can get a replacement EarPhones for the player? as we all know, the size of the plug is not the standard 3.5mm... its 2.5mm in size? Thank you for any help in advance. it is must appreciated. |
Hey Passbyer, well it seems that you might have a fake player on your hands. It might be that although the player appears and shows up as a 2GB player that it is actually of a smaller capacity like 1GB or less. Some sellers hack their players to try and have it show as if it has more memory than it actually does. You might want to contact the seller and try and get a refund as the seller is no good by trying to sell you a fake 2GB player.
About your second question, the best thing you can do is buy a headphone adapter (look at the link in my signature) which will allow you to use any standard headphone with the player. The advantage of having a headphone adapter is that then it will be easier for you to use any great headphones as most of the high quality and great sounding headphones are made with 3.5mm plugs and not 2.5mm plugs. Hope that answers your question :) |
passbyer, If your were copying a WMV video file to your player it may have reacted badly to it as it is not a compatible format for the player. All your video files need to be converted to AMV format for most players and MTV, SMV etc for others. If your player came with a sample video check what format it was.
You may have corrupted your players memory so connect your player to your PC and right click on it in Explorer and select properties, then the tools tab and run an error check on your player selecting both properties. Then you should format your player either with the MP3 Player Disk Tool or with Windows byselecting your player in Explorer once again right click and choose format and set the file system to FAT or FAT32 and then the start button. If you find that your memory is still decreased then as pointed out by "bsaylors" you may have a problem either with a faulty chip or a hacked one and should contact your supplier. From what I understand you can by 2.5mm headphones of reasonable quality from Walmart in the Mobile Phone section or a converter from an electronics store which may be easier than the net. I hope your player is OK, please let us know how you go with the problem. |
Yes Tadad1 is absolutely correct, you might want to use the AMV Tools Converter to convert your videos to the amv format for it to be properly viewed on the player. Hope that helps.

ok thanks alot bsaylors and tadad1 for the help! i really appreciate it.
i will give those ideas a try and see how it goes! i am aware that the video files needs to be converted to AMV format, but that time i was just trying to use my player as a Flash drive to transfer some videos from one computer to another. i'm kinda of regretting that i brought this thing. now i am afraid to put any videos in it.. as i'm afraid it may eat up more of my memory again. thnx for the concern... i too hope my player is OK. thanks again, i will post again my results and let you all know how it goes |
Thank you so much tadad1! I did both the disk error check and i formatted my player and it looks like the memory has recovered.
