Sc85024C questions?

Greetings all,

I have recently brought an mp3 player SC85024C ACT_V3.5.35 2gig, and I have a couple of questions/disscusions for anyone who can help...

1) my battery life seems really short, max I be lucky to get 3hr! this is even after figuring out how to turn screen off while playing. How do other peoples bat life with this model compare?

2)Another interesting thing is some times the screen only partially dims, as opposed to total blackout... havn't figured this one out yet.

3) On the chinese adaptor there are red and green lights. The red is constant yet the green one is quite tempermental. Why the green light? at first I thought it was the USB connection, tho it sometimes goes on with or without player connected... dodgey adaptor?

4)Another trully bizarre thing is the load-up hourglass screen flashing. The player becomes spastic! lol. This happens when either connected to comp. or bat. Sometimes the player will be charging and suddenly reset, then continues to flash the screen again. any ideas?
I have noticed this doesn't happen when charging from adaptor when BOTH lights are on. Hmm.

Your battery life should be a little longer but it depends on your usage. I have a couple of players and get from the worst 5hrs to the best 8hrs of continuous mp3 play with lcd sleep enabled, you can almost halve that for video play where the screen is constantly on and cpu drawing more power. Full charge times can be from 4 - 6 hours and your player must be turned on at the power switch.

On my Nano Clone there are 2 settings under LCD set in the settings menu, one black and the other darkle, I find that setting one usually sets the other but you still have to enter the other setting and accept the setting by pushing play.

The red light is an indicator that the wall socket is turned on and the charger has power. the green light is that the player is connected and charging, it should go out once the player is charged. If it is flashing with or without th player connected it may be dodgy.

The hour glass should only show when the player is cold started with the power switch, once the player is fully booted and running you should turn it on and off by holding down the play button for a few seconds. Using the switch will reset the player settings to default ie clock etc. If your player is rebooting for no reason then something is not right. You could try using s1fwx to extract your firmware, repair it and then load it back to your player, then format your player and see how it runs.

You should keep a backup of your firmware, if you have problems with your player in the future it could be very handy. If you get a chance upload it to site from the Downloads>Uploads By Members section.

Let me know if repairing the firmware fixes the reboot problem.

As requested I have uploaded my original firmware, this has been repaired.

Also I have modified my firmware theme several times tho being VERY careful about the procedure. I pretty sure the resetting was happening before the upgrades tho. Hmm interesting...

I now have this bizarre problem...

My computer wont even recognize the player. Windows says cannot detect new hardware - device malfunction, or something similar. The wierd thing is that it still plays and does EVERY thing else.. The difference being that I can't change my limited music stock! which totally defeats the players purpose, argh.

Any suggestions..?

Some things to try to narrow down the problem with your computer not detecting your player:

1. Plug the USB from your player into ANOTHER port on your computer. Try them all and see if that helps.

2. Try plugging your player into ANOTHER computer altogether. This should tell if whether it's a problem with your computer or USB ports.

3. If after trying those, still doesn't detect your player, then try ANOTHER USB CABLE altogether. See if you can find another USB cable. There's been a few instances now from other members that they had a faulty USB cable. So it's definately worth a try.


Try those and let us know of the result.
