no folders for playing music

hi i bought my 2gb player a week ago and I cant work out how to arrange the files so i can look through folders rather than havign to run through 100's of songs to find what im looking for.

The player came with a instruction booklet but the english it is written is prety much unreadable.

Its got firmware version SC85051C 2006/03/29 ACT_V3.5.35

Would be great if anyone can help:) thanks

kat, Players are just starting to come out that can browse for individual file. Sadly most can only browse folders and I do not think any 3.5.35 have the feature. Some 3.5.37 have started to though.
The best you can do is create folders on your player called Music, Movies, Pictures, Text etc. Then you can create separate folders in the Music folder for each album or artist whatever that way you can at least browse to the folder you want rather than have to scroll through every file to find the one you want.

hi sorry I should have explained better, I have created sub folders for music but cant find a way of accessing a particular artist or genre.

Im sure there is a way rather than having to go through every song on the player, but im unsure what buttons to press.

kat, If you have your music in folders you should be able to browse the folders. Here is how it works on my players, in the music play interface with no music playing pressing the menu button will bring up the menu, the first entry is Local Folder press the menu button again and your music folders should become available. The menu button will open the folder you have selected if you want to go up or down a level. When you find the folder you want to play highlight it and press the play button, this should take you back to the music player interface and the folder you selected by pushing the play button should be loaded and you should be able to scroll left and right to a particular track in that folder if you want. Still slow but not as bad as scrolling all songs.

If you find when selecting your folder with the play button keeps returning you to the root folder and not the one you selected press the menu button and go to the Repeat setting and make sure it is set to normal. Folder browsing only seems to work with the Normal setting.

You can not browse folders while music is playing as pressing the menu button brings up the settings for equalizer etc. If you want to change folders you have to stop the music.

Let me know if this helps

Setting Repeat to "normal" worked for me! Thanks!
I was pulling my hair out trying to figure out how to
switch folders. Now, all they need to do is a "total
random" option!
