You will need to use a PC with Windows XP to use s1fwx it is not compatible with antthing below Windows 2000.

Re: s1fwx dont work with my player

I am also having problems backing up my firmware. As I run the extract.bat file, it scans for devices. It finds the correct drive (in my case, E:\). After I select my drive (E:\), I get the following:

$e
connect to device 'E:\'...
init device...
set device to f-mode...
get info from device...
device = 'S1 Mp3 Player'
manufacturer = 'Wilson Co. Ltd.'
firmware type = 'F641'
firmware version = 3.5.35
read boot record...
error: The specified network resource or device is no longer available.
disconnect from device...
error: The specified network resource or device is no longer available.
Press any key to continue . . .

As this process is running, my player acts as though it loses connectivity with my computer. I am running this process on an HP laptop with an Intel Pentium M 1.86GHz 797MHz processor with 2.00 GB of RAM and 33.0 GB free space of a 56GB hard drive.

As I am sure others are having this problem and have even posted noting such problems, I have not been able to find the appropriate course of action to correct this issue. Please advise my next step so that I may be rid of the horrid firmware pictures and themes that came preinstalled.

sysyphus96, I does sound like your player is disconnecting during the process. If you have access to another PC see if you can extract from there. The other thing I note is that "wiRe" who coded s1fwx states that you may have to be logged on as administrator in some cases. Failing all that I am not sure what you can do to rectify the problem.

It might also be a problem with the USB cable or USB port on that laptop too.

Easiest thing to try is doing the same on another computer instead to rule out the possiblity of the laptop causing the problem.

What did you do to get your player working again?

Would be nice to hear what you did so we can all learn from it too :).
