[solved] Player stops by itself every 5-15 minutes
 

Hi,

I recently got a Mp3/"mp4" player, and I am having this annoying problem:
Seemingly randomly (every little while), the song will stop and the screen will become unresponsive (doesn't wake up from being dark when buttons are pressed). Pressing foward or play will make the music start again but nothing will be shown on the screen. Several minutes later the screen will become responsive again.

Can you give some details on your player, type, size etc.
Is it the same song the player stops on all the time?
Has the player ever worked without the problem?

It is a "Samsung", it's about 7cm (2.8") long with a 3.8cm (just under 1.5") screen.

Now that you mention it, yes it does seem to be certain songs. I've tried deleting all the files and putting them back on again but that didn't fix it.

Maybe some of my mp3's have errors in them, I will try re-encoding them.

I re-encoded all my music into ogg and it is working great now.

Some of my mp3's must have had little errors in them that the player on my pc ignored but made the mp3 player behave strangely.

Ogg has better compression than mp3 anyway, so it's good I will also fit more music on it. Minor problem is that the player won't read the file tags (artist, song name, album, etc) like it does for mp3, but I don't mind.
