Default [solved]New player ,appears useless

Hi I've bought a 4gb MP4 nano type player which my pc won't let me access as it says the drive needs formatting.

But when i try to format it my PC then says it cant be formatted!

Do I need to load software from the driver CD? This doesnt appear to have anything useful on it.

Aaargh ,please help!

Some questions for you:

1. Has your computer been able to detect your player at all? Or did this just suddenly happen?

2. Try plugging your USB into another USB port.

3. Try plugging your USB cable into another COMPUTER and see if that helps.

4. If you can, try get a hold of another USB cable and then try that instead.

Usually I've found the problem is either with the USB cable or that the player is 'dead' from a firmware upgrade with an incompatible firmware.

Let me know of the results.

The PC detects it fine ,but can't access any of the files. Whenever I click on the the icon for the player in My Computer or through windows explorer I get a message saying the new "drive" needs formatting. But when I try to format it the computer says "formatting cannot be completed".

I've tried another USB port ,with the same result.

Will try to get to another computer later and try again.

I may have another USB cable so will try to find that.

I will keep you updated.

Thanks for the reply.

Had same problem,

Manual is useless.

Solution - go to Setup
Scroll down to Setting below "Replay Mode"
It is probably showing Encrypted Only
Click on it "M" key
Change to Normal Only

It should now pop up in Windows Explorer

Hope this helps

If anyone can find out how to set the Clock . . . . . . 2005 01 01 is all it will show.

ATB, and thanks for a great site

Jeff

I tried that ,didn't work... I changed to Normal Only ( naturally it switches off connected mode and icon disappears from PC) when i reconnect same problem occurs.

I 'm not sure it's staying on normal mode once its reconnected -appears to always be back on Encrypted when I check.

What amI doing wrong?

If it is still showing as Encrypted, thats probably why its not working

I cant get to my player as I am currently loading 4GB of files to it to check if it is a hacked version or not, 50 minutes to go!

From memory, after selecting the "Normal" setting using the fast-forward key (righthand one), then press the "M" key to set it. Then the "Play" key to return to the menu.

It may be worth switching it off using the on/off switch after the resetting.

FYI, my player was bought from here :-

Good luck,

Jeff

OK, managed to format mine

Use the HP utility downloadable from elsewhere in the forum
Then format with the MP3 Player Utilities

worked for me, cleared everythig out.

http://www.mympxplayer.com/dload.php...le&file_id=250

is another utility.

Then download the MP3 utility from the Download section as that what I used as well

Have you made the drive "normal" and not encrypted?

Good luck
