Default 'Down' button for use in Games?????

I have just bought 3 players from Hong Kong which have 4 games in them ... Boxman, Bricks, winmine and beads. But the 'down' button doesn't do anything in these games ... only the up, left and right, rendering the games useless!

The 'down' position on these players is labelled 'VOL'.
The description of the players was 'mini i-Platinum 1GB Blue MP4 MP3 FM Player' and it says 'MP4 DIGITAL PLAYER' under the screen, if that helps determine which one it may be.

Am I being stupid and doing something wrong ... or do they just not work properly? Is there anything I can do to get them working?

The button works fine for the volume etc.

AliB, If you extract the firmware from your players using s1fwx then load the firmware into Waterlily you will find there is a page for assigning game keys, I have used it and it works great.

Waterlily HERE
s1fwx HERE
How to use s1fwx HERE

This is how the game keys are assigned on my Nano Clone
