Default The noob thread

Alrity I have been going through this site for at least 5 hours..and boy this would have been helpful before i bought my MPx players. Anyway I have a yepo nano 1.5" screen 2GB. With the help of this site I can change any video codec to AMV.
However the firmware....Oh the firmware....
I am having all sorts of troubles..ranging from loading the firmware to loading my own pictures to my firmware.
Okay I backed my firmware up and have had to use it to revive my black screen problem caused by other firmwares.
I just wanted to know some firmwares that have lots of games and cool startups and what not that WILL work on my nano because so far I have had ZERO success. So someone please post an excellent firmware for me kthx.

Now for my FM transmitter....
MY FM transmitter is set to 107.1, guess what?
Thats a main station here in Toronto.. so it does not play through my care, I was just wondering if you have any suggestions to this.

Please help me as much as possible

Thanx, Lorne

Lorne, The chances of finding a firmware that has all the features you want are slim, you have more chance of winning the lottery I think. The other thing you need to be aware of is that eventually if you keep flashing different firmware to your player trying to find one eventually you will kill it and it will not even load your backup anymore, so be very careful.

The safest thing you can do is change the theme of your original firmware using s1res from the Downloads\Tools section. You will find a post in the Knowledge Base on how to use the Program.

If you get a chance upload your firmware to site and I will check it out and let you know if any of the themes on site are suitable for it.

Hi Lorne,

At the moment, there is no tool that will let you extract games from another firmware seperately and import it back into another firmware unfortunately.

In terms of 'reskinning' or retheming your player, there is a Knowledge Base on how to do this: How to: Modify your firmware using s1res tool located here. This guide will help you reskin your player. It's best that you do this yourself rather than someone else to do it as you know for sure what you've done. There's no guarantee that someone else might stuff it up for you too.

Re: FM transmitter.
Does your transmitter transmit any other radio frequencies though? Mine has four to choose from so I can change it instead if it clashes with another radio station. If not, then you'll have to probably get another FM transmitter instead. There is no setting on your MPx player itself that lets you change any of the settings for FM transmitting, it's all controlled in the FM transmitter.

I have read all the guides thank you, they were helpful. I was just wondering if somebody could post a firmware that would work with my MPx player. You can see it through the ebay link. I would prefer the firmwarre to have lots of games and a nice interface...thats not to much to ask

Lorne

Unfortunately it might be a lot to ask.

The reason why is the following:

1. You can't compare firmware on a player by looking at the casing. A lot of the cases are standard generic cases bought by numerous MP3/MP4 manufacturers who then can choose from a few different chip boards and firmware versions to build the MP3 player.

2. Some manufacturers also get the firmware modified as well especially for that type of player and board.

3. There are three main chip board manufacturers, Actions, Sigmatel and Sunplus. All with their own different firmware, functions and versions.

So, taking this into account, you have a slim chance of finding a firmware that has games, a 'cool' theme which will be totally compatible with your player. Some might work, but you might loose some functions or the buttion configurations are wrong (as the firmware has been modified for only a particular type of player).

For starters, if you can get the firmware version and board version of your player, someone might have one similar to yours. You can find the firmware from the dump.bin file or looking in the the "firmware ver" info from your [System] menu.

Hope that helps.
