Screen wont goto black

Hey is anyone able to help? When i turn on the black feature in the lcd settings menu the screen doesnt goto black, instead it shows up kinda screen saver with some random nature pictures. How can i make the screen actually turn off?

mercuito, You have to disable the screensaver for the LCD off setting to work. You should find a screensaver setting under LCD set. Set the slider to 0 then reset the black setting to however many seconds you want the screen to stay on.

hmmm, i wish it was that easy! theres no setting for the screen saver! its only got brightness and black. Any help? maybe i can alter the firmware sumhow?

mercuito, Sorry I only have one player with a screen saver and it has the setting. If there are no other options in the settings menu to overide the feature you could edit the firmware with s1res and replace all the nature pictures with black images but I doubt if it would save you any power as the screen would still be on. I don't know any way to remove the feature though.

Out of curiousity, what is your player? any chance the firmware could work with mine?

Do you have a "Power Off" option in Settings? Try altering Off Time from 0 to a higher # if you have it.

Yup tried that, but all that does is turn the player off after a certain time if your not doing anything. Any other suggestions? im stumped

Hmm i had a look thru, i tried a lot, most of them wouldnt upload, and the one that did killed my player, but was able to fix it luckly, this is my firmware version:

2006/08/12
B002G2B_V1.4
HTW3.5.37
2005-03-15

Any more suggestions? this is really killing me :cry:

Well im sending it back to them manufacturer in Hong Kong to see what they can do, I'll let you know how it pans out.

Has anyone else ever had this problem?
