You have to BACKUP your firmware and then alter the start up screen. This link will help you.

Knowledge Base: How to: Modify your firmware using s1res tool from here.

or:
http://www.imup2date.co.uk/MP4/firmhow.php

Becareful when you play around with your player, you may kill it. So ALWAYS BACKUP.

Re: Initializing Screen

black_sheep, If you extract your firmware with s1fwx HERE you will be able to open it with s1res HERE , You will find 2 entries within your firmware LOGO.RES which is your startup animation and END.RES which is your shutdown animation. You can use s1res to import new images into your firmware, save it then load it back to your player using the MP3 Player Upgrade Tool. You will find guides to using all these apps in the Knowledge Base HERE

Not like that. i think black_sheep mean is initalizing when we want to go to music menu or movie menu, or initializing 1st time we switch on the power (sand of time picture),
so not the opening or closing animation i think, is that right black_sheep......

black_sheep,
The coloured initializing screen and pre-animation hourglass boot screen are hard set in coding so you can not change the color.
Some firmware displays an initializing image on an coloured background and you can change the image but not the background.
There is a feature in Waterlily for changing the hourglass image but I have never been able to get it to work.

black_sheep

"Waterlily" is a program.
You can download it directly from our site.
Go to [Download] on the left hand side menu bar, then click on [Tools].

You will then see an item in the Tools download called "Waterlily v1".

Hope that helps.

ok i downloaded waterlily and i changed a few things. and then i clicked save. and it saves the firmware to .scd format. i want it in .bin format what can I do about that?

tadad1 9th Sep 2006 5:54 pm

black_sheep, Sorry i should have mentioned you can't save it as a .bin file you must load it pack to your player within Waterlily by using the Download button. Then if you want to save it you have to extract it back off your player.
