I have an 8GB mp4 player(works 1GB) and menu record dont work. I downloaded HPformat from this site and my mp4 freeze in the end of format. I used another software to format (MP3 Player Disk Tool) but this formated "only" 470MB.. My mp4 firmware SC85056A - 2006-04-04 ACT_V3.5.57 ...

What tha fuck is that? =[

Probably you guys have purchased a player with hacked memory chips, there's this post on hacked chips http://www.mympxplayer.org/viewtopic.php?t=839
The true memory size is shown after formatting with the HP Format or Disk Tool.

Pretty much you can't do anything about the memory, only complain to the seller and ask for a refund or something.

It`s like an MP3 Player which plays Music CDs only.

T39 doesn''t sound as good as my T29

Tigorn, Man sorry to hear about your player. You should definatly contact the seller and demand a refund. If you used Paypal or Ebay you should inform them as well. Legally you have every right to demand some satisfaction as you have been ripped of, in reality there is possibly not a lot you can do about it, like the traders on eBay when it gets to hot they just shutdown and start trading again under a different name.
Regarding 966MB it is common for the drive to read less, there is space locked of and allocated for the firmware and a bit more will be consumed by the file table. My 2GB players read as 1.90GB

If you have been ripped off with a hacked player by a seller submit a report to www.ic3.gov
