Default No Recording Feature- BSOD

Hi Folks,

Nice forum here. I happened on it while trying to troubleshoot this new nanoclone 2G.

When i press menu while on the record or voice menus, the clone screen goes blue for about 3 secs, then the hourglass to reboot.

If i try to fm radio record, it does a little differently, it locks up first, and then reboots....

What can i do??? Help!!!! Thanx.

firmware:
sc85051f 2006/04/25
act_v.3.5.35

maceman, It is normal for the player to go to a colored screen for a few seconds as the record feature initializes and the player will generally display a message while doing this but if your player is then rebooting would indicate that there is a problem with the firmware or hardware. You could try extracting your firmware with s1fwx, repairing it with the repair.bat then loading it back to your player. You will find s1fwx in the Downloads
The voice function is for listening to your recordings and will some times have a problem if you try to access the function without having any recordings or .wav files on your player.

If repairing the firmware does not help I would look at a replacement or refund from your seller.

Yeah, unfortunately- after the firmware backup and replace, it still dumps at record etc...

I've contacted the vendor, so we will see what happens.

The initialize, but after like 1 second, it jumps back to the intro screen? weird.

maceman, try downloading a couple of samples HERE and see if they play ok.
Do the files you converted play in the AMV Player on your PC if so right click on the picture while it is running and select properties and it will give you size and frame rate info, does this info match the sample .amv that came with your player.

hmmm, that is interesting. When i looked at the sample file i had, it said 10
128X128

but the one i made says
12
176X144

So when i went back into the converter to try again, i see the only options i have start at 160 X 120 and go higher from there..... do i have the wrong version of software?

I noticed you had an older version, version 4.0 that will encode 128 x 128.

My question is why the newer version doesn't have the lower frame sizes as well? or is that a glitch on my version?

I was able to get the video to play using the 128X128 setting. Thanx for the tips...

sorry for all my posts. but hey, maybe someone else will use it as a learning curve as well :P

Ok, i notice thew max volume is 31. Everything is so quiet. Is that normal? Would other earplugs help? These are the default ones.

I spoke with the vendor. He said to mail it back and he can fix it. So i have to do that i guess.....

maceman, It sounds like you are using version 4.00 or 4.03, you can unlock the small screen settings by going to the AMVConverter folder, open AmvTransform.ini in notepad and change CHIPTYPE=1 to CHIPTYPE=0
The low sound could be a codec problem during conversion, installing the K-Lite Mega Codec pack may help http://www.free-codecs.com/download_...hp?d=2267&s=42.
You should definatly upgrade the earphones as well the difference from a good quality pair is worth the investment.
