Memory Lost from 512 to 256

i have 512 MB MP4 VIDEO PLAYER WITH A 1.5 INCHES BIG LCD SCREEN AND INBUILT DUAL STEREOPHONIC SPEAKER.

I formatted using windows , then by mp3 utilites but the player capacity showing is 256 mb.
Before this i loaded the player with full memory with 512 mb . now it shows only 256 mb.

Guess your memory chip is hacked too. Formatting by windows usually don't reveal the true size, HP Format or Disk Tool would be a better formatting tool to tell you of the actual memory size you have.

A post on hacked chips:

Most probably your memory was originally 256MB reprogrammed to show 512MB.

sheetal, It does sound as if you have a 256MB chip that has been hacked to appear as 512MB. Try opening the player and do a Google search with the memory chips serial number and make to find the chips true specs. Sorry to say I have not heard of anyone recovering lost memory.
