newray, you can use the Disk Tool program which is part of the MP3 Utilities CD that came with your player or the program can be downloaded at http://www.mympxplayer.org/dload.php...le&file_id=327 .

Alternatively, you can use the HP Format Tool which can be downloaded at http://www.mympxplayer.org/dload.php...le&file_id=127 .

You can format using Windows Format, but most of the time, hacked memory chips can't be fully formatted using the Windows Format.

By formatting with either of the 3 methods mentioned, you won't lose any firmware data in your player, your player will still start up as normal. You will only lose data like mp3s, movie files, etc. You need to backup all these file before you format.

It`s like an MP3 Player which plays Music CDs only.

newray, just use FAT file system to format your player. You won't lose the 1GB if your memory chip is indeed of 1GB structure. Unless your memory chip is "hacked", you should be able to regain the full 1GB minus about 19MB for the player's firmware.

Did anyone had any luck? I've tried to format it with both applications of this page, and also with Windows format tool and always detects it as 475 mbytes. The player indicates 1 gb in the setup area.
Thank you!

maccpaul , try a firmware extraction, repair, and then reflash it back into your player. See if the Sys Tools >> Memory Info still shows 1GB.
475MB is normal as the firmware takes up some space for itself.
