Default Software problem

Hiya,

Another noob here.

First off, I have this.

It came with a disk with a number of installation options on it and a Flash guide for how to go about installing the software. However, when I try, I get this: Click the image to open in full size..

I've checked the MSI.CAB file and sure enough, that file is not there.

I've downloaded this: MP3_Player_Utilities_3.68.msi and this: USB_MP3_player_WIN98_drivers3.rar from your website but I'm still having issues, the MP3 Player Update Tool in particular refuses to work, throwing up these errors:

Baffled!!

And the manual is utter rubbish.

DebtMan

From your screenshot, your version of the MP3 Player Utilities is a very old version (3.5.02).

I recommen you update it with version 3.68 at least (it's very stable).

You can download from our site directly here: http://www.mympxplayer.org/dload.php?action=file&file_id=327.

This should install fine on your computer.
I would imagine the one that came with your disc wasn't complete and missing some files. Try our version 3.68 and let me know if that installs fine for you.

DebtMan,
With version 3.5.02 copy the install folder to your PC. Check that the folders do not have any odd characters within their names, if they do remove them. Some times they have English and Chinese titles and the chinese text appears as rectangles because the font needed is not on the system. Windows has problems with these. Then try and install the tools from your PC.

The update tool on your 3.68 install seems to have a problem detecting your player try plugging it into another USB port and make sure it is turned on. It should appear in Explorer as a new drive and the screen on your player should go to a USB connection screen of some type.

Be sure you have made a backup of your firmware with s1fwx before using the Update tool, if anything goes wrong you will need it to recover your player.

You can download s1fwx from HERE and there is a guide on how to use it in the Knowledge Base HERE

Are the instructions for 'backing up' entitled 'extracting?'
