Buttons not working
So....
I have a 2 week old Nano Clone(JUST out of warranty...im pretty P.O bout it) and well...i was very very happy up until a yesterday, the left and play button no longer work. Just from pure experience of electronical devices i believe it may be an issue like a loose solder connection. I need your guyses opinion, and if possible a guide on how to take this apart and put it back together so that I know how to make sure I dont put it back together incorrectly, or make a mistake that makes this no longer function. Thanks guys(girls)! |
Re: Buttons not working
Although i faced a problem similar to yours, but not the buttons, it's the earphone jack solder that broke off resulting in sound only in 1 side of the earphones.
You could follow the steps in opening the player using the dead player recovery thread. The mainboard should be secured with an additional one or two screws that hold it to the front casing, you need to remove it too. Then comes the tedious process of visually inspecting the individual solder leads on the board. If i'm not wrong, there should be 2 boards in the player itself, 1 with the memory and processor, the other for buttons. You might need a magnifying glass to have a closer look at the leads. If there is a broken lead, you could try re-soldering it back by melting the existing lead. But take care in not shorting the other pins as the boards are relatively tightly-spaced. Another thing to look for is the cable or connectors that connects the 2 boards together, check if they are properly connected. Ensure your player is switched off before opening it, you don't want it to turn on while opening it. Good luck. |
