my mp4 came with 3.57
I downloaded and installed 3.68
mp4 is on and set to setup upgrade screen
when I go to upgrade I am asked to selct new firmware.
example give on this site says it is a *.bin or *.fw file. I don't see either.
I did a search of my computer for all my *.bin or *.fw files and could not find any saying new mp3. bin or .fw files
so how do I upgrade my mp4?

oh and I delete 3.57 off computer and did a reboot so only 3.68 shows in start, all programs

It doesn't really matter if it's v3.57 or v3.68, seems to work fine for me. To change your firmware, you need to either extract and repair your current player's firmware and re-flash it back, or download someone's firmware from the download section.

But unless you are facing the problem of a dead player, there is no point in re-flashing your player. You have a very high chance of killing it with an incompatible firmware. You won't gain any extra memory space or extra features with a new firmware.

It`s like an MP3 Player which plays Music CDs only.

LCDColourMPXFMSlim,
Why are you trying to upgrade your firmware? Are you having problems?
Upgrading your firmware will not add any new features to your player and you risk rendering it unusable and unrecoverable by trying to do so.
Each players firmware is unique its components and you have about a 1% chance of finding another firmware that will be fully compatible with your player combination of hardware, which leaves you a 99% chance of bricking it.

Before you attempt any alterations to your player be sure to backup your original firmware with s1fwx which you can download from HERE and there is a guide to using it HERE.

Please describe what you are wanting to achieve as there are some things that are quite safe to do.

tadad,
this may seem dumb however remember when XOM was trading at US$67.00 and a barrel of oil was $US67.00
I thought if my firmware was 3.2.16 and AMV convert was 3.5.37 I kind of figured I would upgrad to amv 3.68 would up my 3.2.16. WRONG thinking.

As it turned out. I download your 5meg file and could not understand why it didn't open. then I downloaded 3.68 and got it to open, went into one file in AMVconnect.in and changed code whatever from 1 to 0 and now my video's are full size on this wilson co MP4.
I'm happy about that.

Another question. I removed all *.jpg photos coming with MP3 there remains in music a *.jpg of a flower. I'd like to replace it with my own picture. Can that be done.

and a last question.
in trying to learn another language is there a way, maybe using video format to have a word come on screen in say english and then its translate in spanish which I provide for just a few seconds and then without pressing anything another word and it's translation and so on.
thanks
I like this little player.

LCDColourMPXFMSlim,
Most images that come pre loaded with your player are just samples so that you can try the picture viewer on your player. You can load any pictures (.jpg) you want to your player and view them with the picture viewer. You should possibly create a folder for them called Pictures or whatever rather than mixing them with your music files. When you activate the Picture viewing feature the player should automatically find them.

Re: your translation , you can also view animated gif files with the picture viewer so you could quite easily create your own language learning gif and set what ever delay you want between frames. If you wanted to add sound you could then convert the gif to an .avi file and using video editing software add your voice, then convert the .avi to .amv for your player.

I removed all *jpg which came with mp3.
when I turn unit on i see an hour glass which goes to a revolving cd when i hold M button it goes into music choices where I see a background flower.
Somewhere there is a picture of a flower in unit.

Good to know unit will also read *.gif. I took about 10 words and their translation and using a 128 X 128 in MS paint entered words into box one on top of other with a few lines of space between each and saved as a *.jpg then loaded all of them in mp3.
each file is about 3k and they flash by way to fast. need some way to slow them down. they are going by to fast.
Is there a way to adjust speed of .jpeg appearing one after another?
thanks

LCDColourMPXFMSlim,
Ok if you want to change images within your firmware:
You need to first extract your firmware from your player using s1fwx.
Download HERE
Guide HERE

Then you can change the images using s1res
Download HERE
Guide HERE

Then reload your firmware to your player using MP3 Player Utilities Update Tool
Download HERE
Guide HERE

And you will find all sorts of theming resources HERE

Different firmware have different image layouts so not all themes will be compatible with your firmware and may need to be edited to suit. HERE is one I made for 1.5 LCD firmware with the dreaded Lotus Flower theme, if your player is 1.8 it is also available for that as well.

When you download some of these themes they also include the pre-modded firmware but it is risky loading them to your player while it is quite safe to edit your own and then reload it back to your player.

Some of the themes include screen sized animated gifs as previews which you can view on your player to get a better idea of how it will look.

LCDColourMPXFMSlim, Here is a simple little freeware program that may help with your language images. If you save the images in paint as .gif files you can then load theme all into this program and assign delay times to each frame then save and load to your player.

I'm going to stay with flower rather than play around with firmware.
Maybe at some later date.

I successfully had those 12 *.jpg files go from one to another too fast and I found reason. it was on auto. so I switched to manual where I have to press forward key to move from one to another. That worked fine. Then when I shut off and turned unit on again. Setting was back to auto display. Is there a way to keep in on manual or is there a way to delay autospeed.
ANd yes I will be trying this unfreeze software.

Is there anything in here I can change? for auto display *.jpg speed?

LCDColourMPXFMSlim,
These settings are for AMV Converter which is used for converting video (.avi, .mpeg, etc.) files to .amv format which is the players video format.

If you just load all your images (.jpg) into a folder on your player called pictures or language, whatever you want to call it you can view them one at a time in the photo viewer on your player.

Once loaded go to the menu of your player and enter the photo viewer. It should automatically find the images and present you with a menu showing all the images. If you press the Menu button on your player you will see a settings menu for the photo player. Scroll to "play set" press menu again then scroll to auto play press menu again you should be presented with a slider that sets a time in seconds that each image will dispay before moving to the next. Set it to the number of seconds you want and then press the play button which will take you back to file view, Press play again and the images will start as a slide show.

When you turn off your player do it by pressing and holding down the play button. If you turn your player off at the switch any settings will be wiped and go back to default the next time you start the player.
