ezassembly,
This is a learning forum for users of all levels so every question is relevant. If you are using Win 98 then you need to install the driver, there should be one on the mini cd that came with your player. There is also a copy installed with MP3 Player Utilities. You may have to do a Google regarding USB drivers and Windows XP as it can be a pain.
Once you install the driver the player should be detected as a usb drive and using Explorer you can just copy and paste or drag and drop files into the player.
Sadly thought taht is about all you will be able to do as none of the MP3 Player utilities will run on Windows 98 you need 2000 and up so things like video conversion are out. there are also no apps that are mac compatible.
The player will not play copy protected files like Itunes sometimes are.
