MP4 player now shows 0 capacity!
Hello,
I wonder if anyone can help me fix this? I have one of the little black MP4 players with the M on the top of the circle panel. I only found out that it was hacked after I started getting problems. At first I though it had just run out of battery, but then the real trouble started. I read through the other posts and decided to extract the firmware. I used the firmware extraction tool, but part way through it said there was an error and closed. At that point, I could still get into the drive through My Computer and see the files on the player. When I went to try and extract the firmware again, the device is not being detected? When I click on properties, it says the player has a capacity of 0. I can turn the player on and it loads to the menu, but it says there are no mp3s etc and I can no longer get into the player via My Computer (although it shows up) It concerns me that I'm not able to format the player either? Any suggestions gratefully received! Thank you. |
Scarlett,
It sounds like your player needs to be formatted. However, you said you can't format it from your computer, so here's something else to try: 1. Connect your player into ANOTHER USB port instead. See if you computer recognises it and let's you format it. 2. Try ANOTHER COMPUTER if Step #1 above doesn't work. It might be detectable on another computer instead. 3. Try pressing the [on/off] switch to the "off" position. Leave it off for awhile then switch it "on" again. Then connect your player and see if your computer detects it. Try those and let us know of the result. |
Re: MP4 player now shows 0 capacity!
Right click on My Computer and select Manage and the Computer Manager will open. Select Disk Manager and you will see your player drive showing. Right click on the drive and select Format>Fat.

Thanks for your replies.
I did manage to fix it and format it after using another computer. The bad news was that after we took it apart and resoldered the computer connection (it was lifting up and disconnecting), the on/off switch broke off when we were putting it back together! So now it works, but I can no longer turn it off. Have found a replacement player instead. You live and learn with these things I guess :? |
