My battery lasts very little!

Yusko, the battery charge is not controlled by the firmware there is a tinychip on the battery that controls the charge process.

You could replace the battery they can be bought on ebay: >> battery cell mp4 <<.

If you don't have a soldering iron to desolder the old battery and resolder the new you could also cut the old battery off leaving the wires and rejoin them to the new battery wires. Be sure to insulate the joins with insulating tape when finished.

Yusko , the nano-clones usually have a battery with a mAh rating of 200-280mAh. It all depends on the manufacturer.
Such batteries gives an average of at least 3hours to about 6hours of playtime. Factors such as the earphone impedance, volume being played, screen timeouts, temperature, etc, affects the total playtime per full charge.

XTransbus , in general, normal earphones for end-users range from about 12 to 32ohms, with 16ohms being the most common. The higher the impedance of the earphones, the better the response of the lower frequencies (ie bass). Some high-end headphones used in music industries have impedances as high as 300ohms.

With regards to the battery life, just think of the ohms law V=IR. Assuming a fixed output voltage of 100mV across the earphone, and a 16ohm earphones, we get an output current of 6.25mA. Whereas with a 32ohms earphones, we get an output current of 3.125mA.

The power output for a 16ohm earphone is P=VI=100mV*6.25mA=625uW
and for a 32ohm is 100mV*3.125mA=312.5uW.

With these 2 values, we can see for a 16ohm earphone, it draws 625uW of power from the player, and 32ohms earphone draws 312.5uW. If you think of the power output as the sound being heard on the earphones, we get half the power output for a 32ohm as compared to a 16ohm.

So to level the sound-level, we theorectically need to increase the voltage output for the 32ohms by 2 times. This increases to 200mV for the 32ohms earphones. The higher the voltage output, the more current the audio amplifier needs to produce and this drains the battery life faster.

It is all a trade-off, for better bass-response, you require higher impedance but shortens battery life.

Hello, my Cinapod has a 400mAh battery, but as I have told it only lasts 1hour and a half. How much is the normal time that it should last?
I have spoken to the seller and He told me to send him back the MP4, and I don't know what to do.. because its so expensive..

Yusko, it varies from player to player. 400mAh means the battery can supply upto 400mA of current for upto 1hour. So if your player uses on average 100mA of current, your battery should last you for around 4hours.
But different manufacturers uses different components that uses different amounts of current. So you can't really tell a 400mAh battery could last how long, as you don't know the power rating of the player.

But anyway, a 400mAh battery should last about 40% longer than a 250mAh battery. So you are looking at approximately 6-8hours of continous playtime at least.

Yusko, You should expect better battery life than what you are currently getting. The problem could be the battery itself or the charge controller. Your only options are to replace the battery or return the player as the supplier suggested. I know that there are 250mAh batteries on eBay but I think you will have trouble finding another 400mAh battery.

i have a mp4 player with firmaware version 9.0.50.000 2006/10/30 and had a lot of problems with the charge duration ,at the begining of the problem the battery was only 1 1/2 hour but i was start to worry about it whe the battery performance was only 30 minutes was very frustrating,so i put my creatitvity to work, i open my mp4 very carefully and i start to analize all the components (in fact only the battery ) and i note that the battery have two terminals connected to a small cisrcuit and another pair of cables to the main circuit of the player ,so i start to search in my cellphone cementery and i found a battery from a siemens cellphone(lithium ion 3.7 v and 700mha) and i start to solding cables in the positive and negative terminals in the battery and thoes cables goes solding tho the terminals of the old battery i (you can try to use a long cable to put the battery in the back of your player) and try the polarity of the cables to match, connect it to the charger and if the charging indicator is on ,your mp4 player is working,and the best is the battery leght in my case the battery last more tha 3 days playing all day long with dj hedphones great new remember try this at your own risk ,
