dailyroach, Just create a text file, paste the info into it save and name it backup.log, place it in testdisk-6.4\win where the testdisk_win.exe resides.

dailyroach, If that is the case then the chip is not really 2GB or a section has failed and you no longer have access to the full memory. Continue with the process but I do not think that you will be able to recover the partition.

dailyroach,
Just some info on why this may have happened. All chips when manufactured contain errors and bad cells this is quite normal. Chips are batch tested for quality, batches with minimal faults go for the highest price and are the most reliable.
Batches that return poor test results are sold a lot cheaper and are more prone to failure. As you can imagine the manufacturers of these players look to produce them at the lowest cost they can. They are not intersested in quality.

All memory degrades with use and will finally fail after many 1000's of read write operations, with poor quality chips that already have an abundance of bad cells and weak spots this can happen a lot earlier.

I just got a new MP4 from China last week and the space back then was 998Mb. I was manage to use about 47% of that space before i use the MP3 Player Disc Tool to Format and then later do the Partition and Encrypt. After the Partition and Encrypt, my MP4 space was reduced to just  233Mb  Is this also one of the conditions all of them that are having here? And i've already tried with the TestDisk procedure in page 1 and still getting the same stuff. The question is : Why am i still able to use 47% out of 998Mb which is around 470Mb if the real space in the MP4 i got was 233Mb?

ctht, Check your players settings and make sure that you have Online Mode set to Normal Only. I am unsure why you are still having different readings but if you want to know the true size of your memory chip then you will have to open your player and check the chip serial number. You can check Samsung and Hynix chips here

cardinalbird, I would say your chip was hacked to read 4GB and the true size is only 128MB. Check the memory chip serial number here to find it's true size.
