hazel7797,
The 4GB that corrupts over 1GB is most likely a 1GB.
Fat format if you can, hacked chips sometimes will not let you format in Fat.
The MP3 Disk Tool is part of MP3 Player Utilities which also contains the AMV Converter.
You will find several versions of the utilities in the Downloads>Tools section.
I have replaced batteries in 3 players with iPod replacement batteries all run perfectly fine with hugely increased playtimes. You are really governed by what size battery you can use though. I have seen replacement batteries for nanoclones on eBay just do a search for "MP3 Player Battery" and they will come up.
I am not sure why you are having problems with your text files. Have you tried creating a short sample in notepad and see if it works.

Thank you tadad1, I have since found your, How To - Removing Memory Hack' and have followed the instructions, my results are: 1 x 4GB player was actually 2GB player, the 2GB player was 1GB and the worse one was a 1 x 4GB player that was actually only a 1GB player!

It also cleared up the txt file problem - I can now read txt files OK!

I will look out for batteries in the hope that I can redeem something out of this awful situation. At least it isn't guesswork anymore and I know EXACTLY how much music I can put on them without them being corrupted!

Thank you for all your help. xx :)

Re: Wanted : Hacked chip recovery testers

Hi
Just wanted to report my success. My heart sank  when I first realised I had been ripped off, but I dilagently read through as many posts as possible and now thanks to testdisk 6.4 I have a fully functioning 966mb MP4 player.
First I backed up the firmware with s1fwx (in case of self induced disaster)
then ran testdisk 6.4 then disk tool
My players firmware is 9.0.4.3 and testdisk did not effect it in any way.
I am still a bit grumpy about how long the battery lasts (2hours), but hey, some folks don't even get 5 mins out of their battery if they get any life from the player atall, so I should not moan!
Anyway it prety much works like a dream now, and whats more I have negotiated a refund of 60% in addition to keeping the player, so all in all it has worked out o.k.
TESTDISK 6.4 is brilliant!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hello, the FAT32 shouldn't be used in 2GB or less partitions because the size of clusters, the clusters in FAT32 are bigger than FAT therefore they compsume more memory in system data.

This is my problem:

my player shoulb be of 1g

but Iīve never been able to charge that amount of data.
at the beggining It appear on the computer as two different disks, I loaded the files in the one I could enter, cause the other one was with no format.
Half of the files I loaded worked right but when I tried to play the other half the player rebooted itself.
"how misterious!" I thought
then I started to delete those files that were corrupted (at least that`s what I thought!) but I could not.
How strange! I thought that time.
Suddenly without advice windows let me delete the files and I left the player empty.
I load songs again.
And something even stranger happened in one folder (the "record" one used to save the things you tape with the player) were all the songs again and again and again, itīs hard to explain, but I thought, IT MUST BE A VIRUS! EUREKA! so I decided to format the drive ... now the displays says that my memory is of 474 MB
Is it hacked? or I did something wrong?
when I use the encrypting tool it says that the memory is of 474 MB too
but before it said that it was of 969.780 MB (something like that)
anyway itīs a crap, can anybody tell me if this testdisk can help me?

to be honest this player is quite a headache

I recomend to you use the TestDisk to remove all partition data, then use the MP3 Player Disk Management Tool to make a new partition, and then use the formatting part of these tool to make a Low Level Formatting of Disk.

First you can disassemble your player check the number in Memory Chip and then go to http://www.mympxplayer.org/samsung-a...rs-vt1692.html and check the true capacity of you chip.

Hi tadad1 :)

Have a question, its " is the boot sector related to the firmware?? "

I have an new mp4 player which has some problemes in booting, but i have some fears from osing the firmware!! :(

please tell me more detailes about that!

thanx!

Hello, the firmware in player is loaded in the same memory chip used to store files.

when you turn on the player the firmware is loaded by the bootloader (is when the screen become blue with a sand clock) then the firmware takes control of memory and the space not used by it self is released for by used as a hard disk, when you plug the player en USB Port the firmware use a standard protocol to tell to the operative system of computer what the device is a mass storage device then the operative system of Computer treat the device as a hard drive and when de OS make a partition, MBR, boot sector and FAT on it become a disk. because that you must not be able to clear fimware using a disk utility, because the firmware self protect making the part of memory where him reside "invisible" (that is because if the memory is 1GigaByte you only see Aprox 950 MB).

There is another thing called "bootloader" must not confused with the bootsector. the bootloader is the program which load the firmware as the BIOS in a PC, this bootloader is in processor chip. if you read the recovery dead player guide you must make a short in the memory chip for the processor's bootloader canīt recognize the memory chip and then goes to ADFU mode making possible recover a dead player.
