Default music folders

Hi there.

I am having a problem with my 2GB 1.5" nano clone that I hope someone can solve.

I have created 2 folders containing different genres of music in the player's default "playlist" folder. I can see the two folders in the music menu but the player refuses to select the folder I want to play and continually defaults to one folder. Repeat mode is set at normal.

If I scroll through all songs in folder 1, it eventually gets to the songs in folder 2, but will not go to folder 2 directly unless I delete folder 1 from the "playlist" folder.

Any help appreciated.

lennep, When you scroll to the folder you want are you pressing the play button to select it?

Yes is the answer. I see two folders under "menu", select the folder I want and hit the play button but selection does not change.

Could this be firmware or formatting? Disc is formatted as FAT. Firmware is original, modified by tadad1 for me as per a previous post.

lennep,
I don't think changing the theme as I did would create this problem.
Has this only started happening or did you have the same thing with your original pre-themed firmware?
As you have already checked the Repeat setting, I am a little at a loss as to what is causing this and have not been able to create the problem on any players by adjusting any other settings.
The only player I have that behaves differently is one with file browsing and on this one I have to enter the selected folder and select the first file.

tadad1,

Don't misunderstand - your mods are not the issue. Just letting you know firmware is original.

I am just confused and annoyed as to why the player refuses to recognize the selected folder.

As to when it started, I don't know for sure. The player did originally select the desired folder immediately post creation, then died whilst playing it and has refused to behave itself since.

I can't actually see the individual files on my unit under the browser. Is this the norm?

lennep,
Unless your firmware supports file browsing in music mode then you will not see any files in the folder.
When you scroll to your folder and press the play button to accept the folder does it go straight back to the music gui or to a menu view with a folder icon and \, pause for a few seconds and then go to the music gui?
Have you tried reloading your unmoded firmware?

tadad1,

Flashed back to original waterlilly firmware which seemed to fix the problem. Flashed again to the modded f/ware you sent me and for some reason, it now selects folders as it should.

Don't know why it corrupted but it seems to have sorted itself out. Thanks for the help.
