chef drew , use the MP3 Utilities Disk Tool that came with your player, or HP Format Tool. Both of which can be downloaded from the downloads section.
Next, do a low-level format on your player. It should format your player to a proper FAT file system, which can be reconisged by your computer.

If you are unable to format using the above tools, another way would be to Right-click on My Computer >> Manage >> Disk Management, and select the player's drive and right click and select Format. Chose FAT file system when formatting.

It`s like an MP3 Player which plays Music CDs only.

chef drew, Try this process for formatting your player
http://www.mympxplayer.org/wanted-ha...rs-vt1864.html
and if you got a trojan from MP3 Player Utilities you will find a clean version here and info on how to manually delete the old install.
