Chrisg, Format again using the MP3 Player Disk Tool and do a Low-Level format.

Chrisg, Sorry I should have explained furthur. The MP3 Player Disk Tool is part of the MP3 Player Utilities suite, you can download a copy here
http://www.mympxplayer.org/amv-conve...-mb-df327.html
or there may be a copy on your CD. Install it then connect your player and run the MP3 Player Disk Tool and format.

At this stage I would leave off reloading the firmware, it will not be removed by the format.

You should however make a backup of your firmware with s1fwx which you can download here
http://www.mympxplayer.org/s1fwx-version-30-df136.html
and there is a guide to using it here
http://www.mympxplayer.org/how-to-ex...tool-vt66.html

If possible it would be helpful to other members if you could upload your backup firmware to site by using the Upload button at the top of this page
http://www.mympxplayer.org/uploads-by-members-dc18.html
along with some details of your player, screen size, firmware version, and if possible an image of it.

The firmware on your CD may well be a full version firmware which is great if your player ever dies you will need it to recover it. Full version firmware are quite rare so if you could also upload that one as well it may help with Dead Player Recovery for others.

Let me know how you go with the format

Hi Chrisg,

You didn't do anything wrong. The only thing you did was unfortunately bought something that was 'hacked' to show 4GB instead of 2GB.

By formatting it, it generally wipes out the hacks showing it's true physical size instead.

At least you got 2GB. I've heard of others who only get 128MB instead!
