This is the firmware info extracted from this 1GB 1.5" Wilson Co. Ltd. Nano-clone:
Quote:
version = 9.0.43
date = 04/29/2006
file id = 0x0FF0AA55
vendor id = 0x10D6
product id = 0x1101
This is the firmware version as shown by the internal display:

*ISSUES*

Player goes to sleep while charging: This prevents it from charging. I had the thing plugged in over night, and it did not charge at all while in sleep mode. All sleep/darkle/black modes are set to 0 and time/date is set, but it does this anyways. It does NOT sleep while playing MP3s or other media.

Player goes to sleep while connected to computer: You've all of 30 seconds to port everything from the computer to the player before it sleeps and Windows loses its connection. Computer cannot connect to player while it is playing media.

Player has no phone book: Player is supposed to have a phone book feature. Telbook 1.1 and Flary address 1.2 util software are included in package, and there is a TELBOOK.AP in the dump, but there is no menu option for said phonebook.

Player crashes while playing movies: This may simply be due to lack of battery charge. Edit: Encoding with older AMV converter seems to help in some cases.

LRC files do not display: Little green indicator light comes on, showing there is an LRC file, but does not display. (Maybe a case of me not being able to figure out how to make it do so.)

Does not play MP4: Maybe "MP4 player" does not actually have this feature, despite name?

*NEED*
Some of this maybe due to faulty firmware? But I can't find any firmware near the version indicated by the dump... Maybe this version information is false? Any help would be appreciated!

Thothie,
There is no way to make a viable dump of 9.0.xx series firmware, although the s1fwx tool will extract it, it will not repair it so the dump will not load to the player.

I suggest to start you give your player a great big low-level format with the MP3 Player Disk Tool.

You did not mention the Power Off setting what is that set to?

What version of AMV Converter are you using?

It is not unusual for the telbook and games images to be in the firmware even if the player does not support the features. The Telbook may not be enabled in your firmware.

Gah! - Where do I find 9.0.xx series firmware downloads? I can't seem to find any 'round your downloads section. :\

0... Sleep 0, Power Off 0, Darkle 0, Black 0... Brightness 13. I notice s1fwx.exe says standby time = 30, even though the player's interface has no option for "standby time", which makes me think firmware is fubarbed somehow.

Software provided versions 3.74, 4.0, and 4.04 - seems 3.74 is generating viable results most often.

D'oh... The reseller said it had said feature, and as I said the Telbook software is part of the package... I notice, browsing the resources in the dump.bin, there's even menu icons for it - they just don't come up on the player. Anything I can do to tweak the firmware into enabling it? Or am I just SOL? (Seems the E-book function works alright, suppose I could just keep text files with numbers - but darn, I hate being ripped off.)

Reseller's been no help BTW, aside from directing me here. Hence my begging for scraps of info. It also has a minor hardware issue, the screen gets flickery sometimes until I press hard against the back of it. (Somethin's loose in there.)

Thothie,
9.0.xx series firmware is quite new and because there is no way to make a usable backup there is no point uploading extracted firmware. So you will have a hard time finding any on the net. Some players come with a copy of the full firmware on the mini cd but it is rare.

From looking at your firmware you player is a 1.5 inch LCD so download Mp3 Player Utilities 3.68 from here
http://www.mympxplayer.org/amv-conve...-mb-df327.html

There is no way to enable the telbook feature if it is disabled. The cd's are generic so the apps are there if your player needs them or not.

The dodgy screen is a worry, all up I would be looking for a full refund if the seller wont help. He should be able to get you a full version of the firmware from his supplier.

*Sigh* Seller isn't adept enough to snag firmware from his supplier, evidentally. :/ I guess I've got no choice but to go for the full refund on this thing and try to track down another one. Suppose I'll make sure the seller can get me the proper firmware from here on out.

I'm guessing I can't even make a proper backup of the Firmware to restore it, if need be, via s1fwx.exe - in otherwords - there simply is no way to backup 9.0.xx firmware.

Well, at least the format didn't kill it like I thought it might.
