Folders and Drag and Drop

Hi can anyone help i have just bought a MP4 player from a Honk Kong seller off Ebay, i am quite pleased with it the problem i have is that when i create a folder to store MP3 files and than create subfolders for the differrent groups etc. as i drag the mp3 files from a folder on my PC to the player some of the folders have strange name and with in the folder the files have strange names. but no mp3 files i then cannot delete the folders the only way to clear them is to format the player, when i try and delete them in windows i get a message unable to locate source. any of you guys ideas.

interadd, The memory chip on your player may be hacked to read larger than it really is. You will find many posts in the forum regarding hacked players.

I suggest you install MP3 Player Utilities and the using the MP3 Disk Tool go to the Partition Encrypt tab and move the slider all the way right and then back to the left and then press the start button, This will clear the partition and then quick format the player. If your player is hacked your memory will now read it's correct size and you should not have any problems with corrupt files.

There are a lot of players sold on ebay that have hacked memory chips and the problem you are having is one of the problems that these players have.

Let us know how you go.

interadd,
Wish I had better news for you on your first post.
The sad part is most people only go looking for help once they start having problems.
If you bought the player as a 4GB it is hacked. These chipods are only able to support a maximum of 2GB Nand Flash Memory at present.

Re: Folders and Drag and Drop

I have now done what you said and the size in windows shows 1013 mb so this means that it is only 1 Gb not even 2 Gb

interadd, Some have turned out to be as low as 64MB. You should really file for a full refund including shipping from ebay and paypal.

"How to get full refund and how to expose fraudulent sellers?
Check if the seller is still actively listing the same counterfeit items right now!
After confirmimg receiving counterfeit item, you should complete the Item Not Received or Significantly Not as Described process dispute after 10 days of item closing date so that eBay or Paypal is alerted of the development of fraudulent situation. If you have paid by Paypal, you can also complete the Paypal Buyer Complaint Process to get refund from Paypal within 45 days.
Since you have NOT been provided with what you have paid for, it does not falls into seller's return policy. You are covered by the 90 days protection period under eBay Standard Purchase Protection Program.
Unless these fraudsters would risk their eBay account for permanent suspension, they will for sure be in contact with you quicker than anything else. You then regain control of the situation and the power is again on your side.
Counterfeit is FRAUD, do not settle with the seller unless the seller is paying for all the associated return shipping cost of the item.
You still own the right to provide negative feedback against the seller to alert the fraudulent situation to warn other eBayers.
Provided that you have provided negative feedback to the seller and if subsequently the seller provides you with an unfair retaliatory negative feedback, you have a case to lodge against the seller by requesting eBay for feedback removal to fully protect your feedback.
Effectively you will get your money back either from the seller or from eBay/Paypal. Most important by going through this, you have assisted the process of exposing fradulent sellers on eBay, which will result in permanent suspension of the seller's account.
In most countries, FRAUD is a CRIMINAL offense and injunctions may be brought against the fraudsters to prevent them from moving on under a different name after being banned. Thus, you may choose to contact your law enforcement agencies or each respective brand manufacturers in your region, to report counterfeit and provide them with your item detail and the source of the item."

You may also need to get a 3rd party to confirm that the player does not meet the specs of the player you purchased and if possible a high resolution photo of the open player so that the serial number on the memory chip can be clearly read.

Re: Folders and Drag and Drop

I have logged a complaint with Ebay and Paypal this is the reply from the seller

"Hi, I am sorry to hear that, but I don't understand why do you say it is 1gb, they are all directly from factory and have been tested by ourselves before purchasing. We will refund you if it really does have the problem you said, please show us anything how does this problem happen."

I remember i found somewhere the chip details but can't find them now, i was going to send this detail to them.

interadd, You should take a photo of the chip showing the serial number and send it to them. A scanner does a good high res image.

interadd , the beginning of the Dead Player Recovery Guide Here has the step-by-step for opening the back of your player to show the component details.
