Music Menu and Folders help

Hi everyone. I just bought a 4Gb ipod clone from China (Ebay) and when I switch it on and select the MUSIC menu, it shows a blue screen with the words initializing and then selects a song and autoplays it. When I hit the MENU key twice to display local folders
I can see my music folders displayed.

Trouble is, when I select the folder I want and open it.......there is nothing there.

Also...when I select eg Music_B folder and press play, the player plays song#1 from folder Music_A

What gives ?

AM I doing something wrong ?

HELP !!!!!!!!!

Richtoronto,

Do not try to update the firmware it is the fastest way to kill your player.

Make sure you have your repeat setting set to Normal, then you should be able to play the folder you want.

If you bought the player as a 4GB it is likely the memory chip is hacked as these players only support a max of 2GB memory. Browse the forums and you will find a ton of posts for memory loss and hacked memory and how to remove the hack.

Thanks for the reply :)

The repeat mode change worked.....thank you

Why don't I still see the song titles in the folder menu ?

I'm showing 3.98GB of memory avail, is that wrong ?

Re: Music Menu and Folders help

I found this........

"Use the MP3 Player disk tool that comes with MP3 Player Utilities go to the Partition Encrypt tab and move the slider all the way right then move it all then back to the left and press start. This will rebuild the partition. Then format the player in Fat by right clicking on the player drive in Explorer and selecting format."

If I reformat, won't I loose everything in there ? ie. firmware ? Do I just copy everything I see in the root menu to my pc, then put it back after reformating ?

Re: Music Menu and Folders help

Richtoronto , by formatting, you only will lose the files that you copied in (ie MP3, movie files, etc). Firmware would not be affected as the formatting only clears the memory chip, not the processor's ROM.
You'll need to backup all the stuff that you want on another external source (computer or external harddisk) before performing the format.

As for song titles, currently these nano-clone players does not support song browsing, only supports folder browsing. So you can only select the folder to be played.

These players processors under the ATJ2085-series currently support only a maximum of 2GB. 4GB is definitely a memory hack, and is recommended that it is formatted to remove the hack. Which if not done, would cause you alot of grief in the near future.
